PRECURSORS FOR LIQUID CRYSTALS

The precursors for liquid crystals refer to molecules or materials that are present before the actual formation of liquid crystals. These precursors undergo certain phases and transformations before they become the ordered structures of liquid crystals. This is a phase in the manufacturing process in which the molecular components adopt an orientational order that is characteristic of the properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals are often formed by melting solid crystals or by selectively synthesising molecules that have the required structural properties. In the precursors, the molecules are in an intermediate phase between the solid phase and the ordered liquid phase, which is typical of liquid crystals.
